Over the years we have had numerous visiting locomotives to the Museum, particularly in recent years with the remarkable growth in the special events programme at Beamish. For interest, here is a fairly definitive list of locomotives to have visited and the years (and events where appropriate) they attended (though not presented in order they came!).
(Note – this is work in progress so not all information may be available yet! For more details please see the stocklist in the downloads section of this site).
The full list (not in order of visits… for now!)

Below: After the hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, events returned to Beamish’s programme in 2022, though it was April 2023 before the first visiting railway locomotive appeared – in the form of Andrew Barclay No.1219. This was booked to operate regularly from the 1st April through to the 8th May (Condonation weekend).
Below: In September 2023, Avonside 0-4-0T Ogwen returned to Beamish for a visit, this time fully-restored to working order.
Below: Manning Wardle No.1210/1890 (sometimes 1891 as that was the delivery year) Sir Berkeley visited for the April 2024 ‘Wheels of Industry’ event (April 6/7) and then remained until early May. Owned by the Vintage Carriage Trust and based at the Middleton Railway in Leeds.
