General Transport & Industry News 23rd October 2012
Below: G&I 26 now has working replica roof mounted headlights, in readiness for several forthcoming winter evening events as well as a photo charter. The fittings are reclaimed ships bulkhead lights, with a new frame made to cradle them. The BTG (Beamish Tramway Group) wired them in yesterday so the full circuits of lighting are once again available both inside and outside on this car.
Below: A close up view of the No.2 end lights.
Below: Down at Bridgnorth Duncan Ballard reports the arrival of the new throatplate and doorplate sections of the outer wrapper on 4085 Dunrobin. The throatplate section is seen here being jigged into place ready for a coded welder to secure it. This is therefore the first piece of restored Dunrobin that we have seen and marks a change from dismantling to repair!
Below: 304 has now had its trolley pole fitted to our spare base and as I write is currently sat in the depot humming away to itself as the team investigate the various systems on board.
Below: Interior view showing the lights lit and the vast length of the tram – this view is only halfway!
We’ve also made a few changes to the blog following feedback from readers – hopefully the news stories are more to the fore than before, and the threads of old postings can be more easily followed – as ever, feedback is welcomed!
Hi Paul
The Blog works superbly if I log on to it by web but as delivered by feedburner there are still weirdness with the photos. The 26 head on shot comes up HUGE and the words between a squashed between bigish photos. Still It alerts me to look it up in the older way!
