Progress at Bridgnorth is primarily focused on dismantling 4085’s boiler at present. The smokebox has been removed since these photos (courtesy of Duncan Ballard) and the current effort will see the front tubeplate removed. A further scope of work has been agreed and will see the inner firebox and foundation removed, the regulator and internal steam pipes dismantled and numerous tests and analysis so that we can fully understand the engine and produce a comprehensive restoration plan for costing against. No doubt I will be able to report more next week after I have seen progress and discussed the engine at the SVR on Friday.
