The relaying of sidings in the Colliery Exchange area (behind Francis Street) is progressing, though the present relentless rain has hampered progress. Here are some view showing the scene. We are taking great care to retain the industrial railway charm of this area, it being non-passenger carrying, though the use if hardwood sleepers and MOW clip fastenings ensures the track is actually very robust. The area in the photos through which the weeds are already thriving has been similarly treated last year and as can be seen it soon blends back in – all we need are the oily marks left by passing trains…
