News from the Colliery
Since the completion of the brick work the Colliery Stables site has been quiet. Contractors have been constructing the timber a-frames offsite and this week the frames arrived on site and construction of the roof has now started.
Luckily the original roof structure still survives and the Ricklees Stables so we have been able to make a true copy of the original.
The structure is slightly unusual in that the sarking boards also act as rafters, however, this makes for a very strong construction.
The structure is now coming along well and we should have a watertight roof in the next few weeks. Windows and doors can be fitted which will allow us to get on with the inside work during the winter months.
