Here is a quick photographic roundup of one or two of the things going on here…

Below: Fresh from the foundry is the casting for the Steam Mule, ready for machining by Dave Young. I’ve turned this photograph around so that you are looking at the casting from the same angle as it will be located on the chassis.

Below: Tram 16’s wheelsets have returned from being turned and are being prepared for reassembly into the truck. Various works have been carried out to the electrical systems and air brake system and some body/paintwork repairs are due to start next week

Below: During a test steaming on Fiddler, the second door joint failed. We will now change manufacturer to the Blue-Max joints used elsewhere on site. This also standardises our use of jointing at the museum.

Below: Rambler and Mary Margaret are back from their travels to Corbridge and will probably be in steam this Sunday.

Below: The Blackpool tramway tower wagon No.749 has been moved within the RMS to enable some new objects to be placed inside. This has enabled us to have a look at it with a view to bringing it out for a very special and rare outing with Blackpool tram 31…
