The track lads and Komatsu gang have made rapid progress on the station branch, with the line through the cutting now dismantled and lifted. They spent a week at the colliery and have completed one running line – see the last two photos here.
100 tons of ballast (about a quarter of what we will use) has arrived and the machine is poised and ready. A dumper truck arrives Monday so the reverse of the lifting can take place onto new ballast (the first time this line has seen any!) and using new sleepers.
