A bit of progress to reveal today…

Below: The Ruston Proctor 1913 built Portable has been moved to the steam workshop for stripping pending the boiler being sent away for rebuild. Here Stuart (atop ladders) dismantles the motion (which revealed a banana shape con-rod!) and Davy builds up the metal on one of the chaldron buffer end straps. The machine tools are now wired in and work is very much taking a step up in pace here!

Below: Outside the contractor has finished blast cleaning all of the windows for the chip shop and has also attended to the water supply ‘box’ which we will use for the road engines at Beamish. This view shows how quickly new films of rust develop after the process, despite there being no rain to speak of here.
