Coffee Pot's visit to the Tanfield Railway

Coffee Pot’s visit to the Tanfield Railway

11th February 2011
This morning Coffee Pot No.1 was moved to Tanfield to take part in their coal train weekend in a weeks time… Moved by Brimec (great for local moves, with the engine being only 8 tons in weight) it was delivered to East Tanfield and moved up the line behind the Armstrong Diesel. It ran well – its longest journey (ever?!) on its own wheels. Parked at Marley Hill, its home between September 1971 and March 1975 when stored there, it then rejoined former Beamish resident No.14 and long-term loanee, Twizell – all of which are on their second visits/bases at the shed. The wheels of time…
Below: About to make contact with Tanfield metals. Thanks to Ian and Derek for their assistance and the lift up the line.
Below: A pause for photos at Andrews House Station.

Below: Coffee Pot didn’t meet Sir Cecil Cochrane at Beamish last summer, though they maybe did exchange whistles across the valley – so here they are together adding further to the links between Beamish and Tanfield based locomotives, seen outside the shed at Marley Hill.

Below: A reminder of how it looked last time it was at Marley Hill, when the colliery still formed the backdrop to the shed complex…
