Dunrobin!

Dunrobin!

5th February 2011

Well, I’m sat I’m sat here in Canada at the end of a rewarding trip to meet Dunrobin and the HR coach, prepare them for shipping and to meet some wonderful people along the way. I’ll keep this post short, but thought that folks might be interested in a few photos from the trip…

Below: My first sight of Dunrobin inside its engine shed at Fort Steele.

Below: Inside the cab, a view showing the cushioned bench upon which many royals and heads of state have sat between 1895 and 1971. Note the cab doors and sliding windows to completely enclose the cab. Just visible is the foot step, below which is the cab floor and access to the coal bunker etc. A neat solution and one I am sure we will seek to exploit – the ultimate locomotive simulator!

Below: A slightly blurry view of the coach interior, looking through to the guards compartment. The external double doors and wide interior door lend this vehicle to creating full access to all visitors, including wheelchairs.

Below: Dunrobin’s shed, snow and a wonderful landscape beyond.

Below: An external view of the coach, which is in remarkable condition, like Dunrobin, thanks to the very even relative humidity in this part of Canada, despite extremes of temperature – being minus 22 at times during my visit!
