Interesting development you have going there. On my visit during the steam fair, I couldn’t help but notice a small crane mounted on rails at the Collery Village. Is that going to be part of this Unloading Area?

The unloading area is for low-loader to rail work, rather than a goods station type thing. The crane in the colliery area came from South Shields South Pier concrete block works – one to restore at some point in the future…!!! The area shown in the photo will be infilled to rail level to enable lorries to drive in – there are photos on the blog a long time ago showing lorries at this location dropping off and collecting items.
