Departures and arrivals

9th September 2011
The week has continued in a busy manner with all of the exhibits departing and one new arrival appearing. The NER coach return has been delayed until next week, though this grants us some useful breathing space! Coffee Pot was in steam last night for a corporate event and was thus also able to carry out some shunting work following the event – this means it carried out three additional days/evenings in steam as part of the clear up – a particularly useful loco given it is 140 years of age!
Below: A final look at Teddy and MSC 67 during PftP.
Below: On Monday Scotts loaded Blackpool 11 and returned it overnight to Carlton Colville where it arrived on Tuesday.

Below: An unexpectedly early arrival on Tuesday (expected Wednesday) was the longest lorry and trailer we have ever had on site! It was bearing a gift to Beamish from the North British Locomotive Preservation Group in the form of an LNER (design – I would love more details if anyone has any – the axleboxes are all BR) well wagon. This is a vehicle used more on bulky or awkward loads (such as propellers) rather than for very heavy ones. It has been resident on the North Norfolk Railway and moved here to the Colliery Railway for repainting and use as the carrying wagon for the ice rink chiller unit. The GER Fish van will also form part of this arrangement – the Polar Express! It is seen here being delivered and prepared for unloading.
After inspection a test run was carried out to see that the clearances were adequate for it to reach its proposed location on the newly re-laid siding behind the ice rink area. It is now in the engine works pending repainting and preparing for its new role. I do not at present know its number.
