An early view of 'Durham'

An early view of ‘Durham’

This copy of a copy of an image which appeared in ‘The Durham County News, Thursday 17th May 1934’ reported on the reservoir construction at Burnhope. Jonathan Kindleyside, from the Transport & Industry team came across the picture recently and identified the locomotive featured as none other than ‘Durham’ (later Ogwen) which is due to arrive at Beamish later this month… I would be interested to hear from anyone who knows if the original images survive anywhere (this appears to be one of at least two taken on that occasion) and if they are available to researchers?
The photo shows Durham plus a rake of side tipping skip wagons. Note the temporary workers buildings in the background and the already baron nature of the landscape during the construction of the dam and associated channels etc.
