Below: While great things are happening with the Daimler bus’s repaint, the details (and crew!) have not been forgotten either… Les Little, one of the volunteers with the Friends workshop team, is a retired upholsterer and has completed new cushions for the Daimler, for the driving cab. The previous ones were black, these new covers are rather more special and are to the same high standard as those in the SOS bus (which Les also made). Such skills are a precious thing, and we would be interested to hear from anyone who might wish to work with Les and learn something of traditional upholstering, using horse hair stuffing and springs (as in the SOS bus) – contact us via the blog. Meanwhile, Phil Anderson is working flat out, and all hours, to complete the stunning transformation of the Daimler in time for a debut appearance at the GNSF next week… Photo by Colin Slater.
