South Tynedale Railway Gala weekend…

Today the sunshine shone (for the most part!) brightly over the South Tynedale Railway, holding a gala to mark the commencement of the restoration of their Green built 0-6-2T ‘Barber’, formerly of Harrogate Gas Works.  As a special attraction, the Statfold Barn Railway’s 0-6-0ST Peckett was in attendance, also a former Harrogate locomotive and fresh from a recent appearance on the Ffestiniog Railway.  The views below show home based locomotives ‘Helen Kathryn’ (painted blue), ‘Thomas Edmondson’ (green side tank), visiting West Lancs Railway O&K ‘Utrillas’ (painted black) and the Peckett.  Also shown is ‘Barber’ awaiting removal for overhaul – the boiler at Bridgnorth and the rest of the locomotive at Alan Keef Ltd.  The railway was also making the most of its new extension, shown in the first photograph below…
