Lisbon 730 arrives.. and makes first moves under its own power!
Here is a bit of late news – typed with numb fingers! Lisbon 730 arrived safely and was unloaded this evening, driving into the depot under its own power. Tomorrow it will have the lifeguards and trays refitted and be subject to a commissioning exam before trial running around the Museum. Leeds 6 is now being loaded in readiness for its return to Heaton Park in the morning.
Below: Is this a first, ever? Trams from Oporto and Lisbon meet on the same tracks…
A second, rather than a first. The tourist route in La Coruna, Spain used Lisbon 743 and 712 as their 100/1, and Porto 223 as their 201. All three regauged to metre gauge. Closed since 2011 sadly so this is the only opportunity at the moment!
Lisbon and Porto trams have run together before on an operation which I believe is now closed in Spain. However still very glad to have them both here.
How long is it visting for?
Until April 21st, though it may stay a few days longer if its owners are agreeable to the idea. We aim to have the visiting trams in action on the Thurs – Fri of each part of the festival.

Does this mean that Lisbon 730 & Glasgow 1068 will not be operating at weekends for the rest of the festival? That seems a bit strange. I was hoping to see both trams and Stephenson’s Rocket running on the same day, but presumably this now won’t be possible?
Sorry – a typo on this post – Thurs to Sunday. I think you actually knew this though!
