General news from the RHEC…

There are a number of posts in preparation but for starters here is a brief update on some of the projects in the RHEC that are progressing at the moment.

Below: R025 is looking good, with the first coat of RAF blue applied and numerous bits being refitted.  It is waiting on me to have the rear axle and front rolls attended to (sorry Chris!) and I hope to have some progress on this shortly.  It can then become a rolling (no pun intended!) chassis and an ideal bed on which the engine can be tested on.  New sprockets and drive chains have been purchased and will be fitted at an early stage in the reassembly.

Below:  Three stages in the chaldron waggon reconstruction programme, with the frame for the box chaldron being assembled, turned and having the bearing blocks etc. mounted.

Below:  Finally a glimpse at the first waggon, now being painted and a plinth for its mounting along the road leading up to the Museum, being assembled.  After considering the number to be carried, we picked 388 – 389 is already at the entrance so at least they are arrived at in numerical order for those who notice such things!
