Past and Present – a remarkable coincidence…
I recently purchased a set of photographs taken on the Grimsby & Immingham Tramway – one of them was of particular interest, featuring No.26 – now preserved at Beamish and formerly Gateshead No.10. What really struck me was the view – it had an uncanny resemblance to a section of our own tramway on ‘Bog Bend’ between Foulbridge and the Town. After showing a number of drivers, as well as Andy Martin, it was soon apparent that such a view could be recreated and so Stuart and Andy recreated the scene last night – the first photo is the original, taken on the G&I circa 1959, the next two were taken at Beamish yesterday. Its uncanny isn’t it?!!!
