Derelict NER Carriage body – free to a good home…
Many years ago, when the Museum required a container, the opportunity arose, for the same cost, to retrieve and move an NER coach body and use this for storage. The coach was No.3496, an open third built in 1905 and withdrawn in 1938 and sold for use as a holiday home in Riding Mill in the Tyne Valley. It received the minimum of attention and has for some years been empty. I have offered it to a number of groups, on the condition it is removed, but the need to remove it from its present site is now rather more pressing. Therefore, it is offered here as being available to the preservation movement as a source of spares or a challenging restoration project. It was never part of the Museum collection and there are no strings – you just have to come and take it away. If anyone is interested, please contact me via this posting. If taken for spares, then the whole body needs to be dismantled, though we can remove what is not required after that.
Still available – we are looking for a home for this model traction engine trailer, which is smartly presented and ideal for someone with a miniature steam engine or tractor. It was posted earlier this year on this blog, with no resulting interest. I am keen to find it a good home, which would please the late builder I am sure. Again, contact me via this blog if you are interested.
As a matter of interest is there any original interior?
What size is the traction engine trailer, out of asking? I’ve a friend who might be interested in it.
Its about four feet long at its maximum, to carry an adult on the front bench and two kids or an adult behind. I’d be very pleased to find it a good home!
