Scumbling 31 – Part 1
23rd June 2010
Phil Anderson is now starting to scumble the woodgrain effect on Blackpool 31 – an original type of finish and a very effective way of creating the appearance of fine wood…
Below: Phil applies scumble to the ventilators, which have been prepared with a base colour.
Below: He then drags a clean dry brush over the tacky scumble to create streaks. Two further processes of dry-brushing takes place and a wash of lighter scumble softens the whole effect.
Below: 31’s side panel with base coat (seen to right) and first application of scumble.
Below: A close up of the first application prior to the brushing and softening processes.
Below: The dash panels are now lined out and await numbers and a final coat of varnish.
