Colliery Steamings

Colliery Steamings

13th August 2010
This last weekend we held a mini-gala titled ‘The Geared Engine Gala’ featuring the three standard gauge engines plus Wallis traction engine ‘Greenwell’ on Saturday and the museum’s Fowler roller ‘Rambler’ on Sunday. This was the last chance to see Blue Circle in steam here (for now anyway!) though Sir Vincent is likely to stay a while longer…
The engine shed has really come alive with three working engines resident inside. No.14 finally departed late on Friday 10th September for Tanfield. I understand it was towed to Marley Hill on Saturday evening. Unfortunately I didn’t manage to get any photographs of this though I’m sure they will appear somewhere on the web.
Below: Here is a selection of views taken over the weekend – a final fling of geared engines!
