2012 Stocklist now available!
New, for 2012, is the latest and most comprehensive Beamish transport collection stocklist yet. It now includes stationary engines and static boilers, a review of 2011’s events and an update on some of the key projects underway at the Museum. As ever I will add that it is a work in progress and there are still bound to be errors and ommissions, but it is building into the definitive listing that, I hope, will one day form the basis of a partwork stock-book series dealing with the full collection.
You can find the list viat the links icon at the top of this blog page, with printed copies soon to be available from the Museum Shop, priced £2.50.
Just one comment – Jacob, the 0-4-0PM, appears twice, both in the current stock list and the list of vehicles that have left
Good point – the stocklist is written as a live document and Jacob was transferred to its new owners long before it left! Whence it has managed to appear in both lists. 2013 edition will be amended accordingly, but its just me who writes this so I do sometimes miss these things!
Cataloging artefacts is very, very important work. I hope you are able to constantly refine this (without the paperwork getting in the way of conservation, of course!). Best wishes,
Rod Low
The stock list mentions “Glasgow Subway” in the departed vehicles section: I can advise you from my records that SIX Glasgow Subway power cars were obtained in 1977 upon their withdrawal in Glasgow, intended as a source spares for the tram fleet. The cars obtained were 6, 14, 15, 17, 21 and 30: all except 14 were broken up in Late 1981, it being the stated intention to keep this car (they were very historical in their own right) but for some reason (possibly condition) it was later broken up too although I do not have a date for this. I recall seeing a current photo of some of the cars at Beamish – possibly in “Modern Tramway”. Your fleet list is a mine od information and I hope this helps.

Hi Mike – many thanks for this, very useful information and I will amend and improve the next edition of the stocklist accordingly.
