Rowley Station: Motive Power Substitution

Rowley Station: Motive Power Substitution

The Y7, No.985, is currently receiving maintenance, which we hope to complete by next weekend.  In the meantime Coffee Pot No.1 has been relocated to Rowley Station to provide shunting demonstrations around the station environs.  This will continue tomorrow and the locomotive will remain at Rowley next week to ensure that there will be a working engine there next weekend.  Obviously, not being vacuum fitted or an any way suitable for working with passenger stock, No.1 will be restricted to shunting work, in itself an essential aspect of the railway scene historically.
No.985 has received attention from the North Norfolk Railway boilersmith and there are a number of other small jobs to attend to in time for the programme of events commencing with ‘Power from the Past’ on the 30th August, where it will play a key role in the recreation of the North Sunderland Railway over the four days.
Below: Here is No.1 acquainting itself with its temporary ‘new’ surroundings.
