Changes at the Waggonway…
A number of changes have been taking place over at the Waggonway. The wooden waggonway has now blended in nicely with the landscape and is due to operate over the weekend of the 18 – 21st April (‘Old King Coal – part of the Great North Festival of Transport). Changes have taken place on the steam waggonway, with Darren and Mark removing the loop, at the eastern end of the line. This has never fulfilled any particular purpose and the turnouts are required for re-use in improving the layout on the Colliery railway in due course.
Thanks for the photos – although not my ‘era’ of interest, the Waggonway is my favourite part of Beamish, a unique recreation and so wonderfully done, too
Good to hear the wooden waggonway is going to get used! Had a look at that last time I was up and wondered if it was ever used. I want to see this now
