Forcett Coach arrives at Beamish…
This afternoon the restored Forcett Coach No.179 (formerly Stockton & Darlington Railway), from 1865, arrived back at Beamish. Earlier posts on the blog will give you more of its history and restoration story, but the structure has been subject to a comprehensive rebuild at Stanegate Restorations & Replicas in Haltwhistle. It still requires a mechanical overhaul including adding air brakes and also overhaul of the springs (as it sits both low and lob-sided) and such work will be carried out in due course. Meanwhile, it will be on display at the Waggonway.
That looks stunning, bravo to Stanegate Restorations – any news as to what their next Beamish job will be? Maybe the NER Birdcage brakevan?
