It’s here! ‘Forty Years of Service’ book now on sale…

We’re really pleased with the new ‘Forty Years of Service’ book which has just arrived from the printers…  It is a detailed history of the Beamish Tramway over the last 40 years, and includes a stocklist with detailed histories of each tram as well as several chapters which record the developments on the tramway from the first preservation efforts in Consett to the system that we know today.  It is in full colour and superbly printed – hard to put down!  It can be purchased from Beamish’s shop for £4.95 and though we hope to create an online shop in due course, those wanting to order one online can obtain a copy from the Videoscene website – http://www.videoscene.co.uk/the-beamish-museum-tramway-forty-years-of-service.html where the new UK Light Rail and Tram Museum Guide 2013 can also be obtained.

The DVD of the Beamish Tramway is expected to be out in June, with filming completed and covering a wide variety of recent tramway action at Beamish.  I’ll post details of this nearer the time…

Below: Here are a few shots of the book, which is A5 in size and printed on very high quality paper, 64 pages long plus covers and includes a system map and fleetlist.  We worked hard to ensure the photographs are either of exceptional quality or of unusual or important moments in the tramway’s life – one of my favorites can be found at the top of Page 10 – showing just how far the tramway, and indeed the Museum, have come and the impact upon the very shape of the site they have made.  To see it you’ll have to buy a copy!
