Beamish Tramway 40th event on film…
There is a lovely video of the Beamish Tramway 40th anniversary weekend on the Glasgow 488 website that might be of interest to readers:

Glasgow 488 is one of the famous (and most numerous) Glasgow Standard tramcars, and was until recently stored in Paris as part of the transport collection in that city. It has now been repatriated and has moved to the Ffestiniog Railway for full restoration, which will no doubt make it an absolute stunner once complete! It is eventually bound for the East Anglia Transport Museum who are likely to become its new owners. I have always wanted to see a standard run at Beamish… Maybe one day!
If you want to read more about the 488 project, have a look at their website at: http://www.488.cyberpictures.net/index.html
Meanwhile, here are a couple of views as a reminder of the 40th anniversary weekend just over a month ago…
Remember – the book on our tramway is stillavailable and selling well – see previous posting for details.
