One in, one to go…

Below: This 1921 Excelsior single cylinder motorcycle is a new addition to the collection, purchased for Beamish by the Friends and formerly part of the estate of the late Robert Atkinson.  It is a local machine and clearly a fairly long term restoration prospect but it fills a number of roles in the collection as well as being at the very smallest end of the motorcycle spectrum and therefore sitting well with other machines at Beamish.

Below: We have this miniature traction engine trailer to dispose of – its available to anyone who wants to come and take it away soon!  Built by the late Ray Mankin, it was part of his collection of fairground related models and features a drivers seat and passenger accommodation.  I’d like to see it go to a good home so please make contact via the blog or to museum@beamish.org.uk and mark the e-mail for the attention of Paul Jarman.  We aren’t charging for the trailer, but any appropriate donation would be gratefully accepted towards the other restoration projects under way at present!
