114 will miss deadline

8th April 2011
Despite an all out effort by Phil Anderson, the Beamish Tram Group and Peter Barlow assisted by our plant engineer Brian Williams, the second motor for 114 has been delayed at the contractor overhauling it and will not be ready until next Friday. The truck is now reassembled and the other motor is being fitted as I write this. This is obviously extremely disappointing. A new target of running for Easter (especially as we are enjoying such glorious weather at the moment) so that 114 can be seen alongside 765.
Also doubtful for the event are the visiting Fowler B5 traction engine and the steam motorcycle. However, we have a few other items up our sleeves (just in case!) and hope that these will make up for those unable to attend.
Below: 114’s wheeled truck – so near yet so far without the second motor available to put in place.
