It’s nice to collect things…

8th April 2011
These days it seems that we are offered fewer donations, certainly of a larger nature, so we were delighted some time ago to meet Bob Jerry and discuss the future of his 1933 30cwt Morris Commercial. We weren’t in a position to immediately give it a home (too many projects and not enough sheds), but with completion of the new barn that has changed, so this morning we collected this wonderfully restored vintage truck.
It has been in the Jerry family since new, belonging to Bob’s brother then father before him. This in itself is quite remarkable. The truck was stored for many years before Bob decided to restore it as part of a small private collection of vehicles. Needless to say we are delighted that he has allowed this local vehicle to join the Beamish collection.
Below: Departing its workshop home for the last time.
Below: A selection of views taken after arrival at Beamish. Hopefully visitors will see the Morris in frequent use by the Curatorial department on the Museum site and maybe occasionally away from the Museum…
