News from around the site
7th November 2011
A bit of a gap since the last post as a lot going on. Here are some of the activities of the day…
Below: Setting up the steam gallopers at the Waggonway in time for Christmas has started, with the first job being to position and level the centre truck, made rather easier by its on-board hydraulic system. It is due to be repainted this winter, so the orange colour should disappear and render it altogether more fitting in appearance for the 2012 season.
Below: The track team (boosted to four members this week) has set about excavating the track outside the depot. A number of the fleet have been removed to the town street in the interim to provide continuity of service but remain under the watchful eyes of the site residents. Here is a view looking roughly east.
Below: The re-emergence of the Armstrong car has provoked the thought that it should be fairly easy to recommission for limited use at Beamish, so in the coming days Brian and Tom will do just that…
Below: Gateshead 10 has carried out some running-in after motor repairs but requires further attention before re-entering service. 196 is over the pit for stripping to commence prior to this winter’s overhaul.
Below: The BTG has excavated 196’s original trolley base from the stores and intend to refurbish it to replace on the car – the one fitted was what happened to be in stock and available last time around and will be freed up as a spare for future projects…
Having problems viewing your site using IE 9 with Windows 7. The News page is displayig items from November 2011, although the current (November 2012) items are listed on the left. The selected item is partly obscurred by the video links so it is not possible to view the featured images full size. Hope you can sort these problems as I visit the site regularly and look forward to the latest updates. GARRY
Hi Garry – you may have a bookmark to the old blogger based blog, it might be worth updating to the new site. Some further changes have been made so this should be resolved. Re the flickr and Youtube boxes, that is being looked at as it does the same in all versions it seems. One way around it is to scroll down the page to remove them from the screen, but still leave the gallery visible. We are looking at this however.
Best wishes
Paul
