Below: A productive day all around.  Phil Anderson is seen here adding yellow edges to the black lining on No.18 – a useful way of correcting some of my mistakes!  Another coat of varnish (maybe two) will follow, leaving the cab area more or less complete.

Below: A close up view of the lining, showing the yellow discretely setting off the black against the wood grain effect.

Below: Phil then returned to 196, adding Virol and Grange Laundry adverts.  Both are examples carried on north east (south of the Tyne) tramcars.

Below: 196 itself, after the Beamish Tramway Group had refitted the overhauled trolleybase and all of the platform vestibule components, this area also having received a repaint.  This tram is going to be a real head turner once completed!

Below: A good day for the Hodbarrow side tipper, as Darren, Mark and Danny carefully inverted the body and then positioned it onto the rolling chassis.  The red wheel treads will wear off!  The waggon is balanced in favour of a tip, with strong straps to retain it in the upright position.  When empty the body is easily righted, and a loop is provided to assist this process using a shunting pole or other pointy stick.  No doubt the Friends workshop volunteers will have this project completed by the end of the month to enable a debut at PftP…
